Questo personaggio, Chatelard, scorge da lontano la smilza figuretta di Marie che segue compunta il feretro del padre, e se ne innamora. Per starle vicino, compra un peschereccio, che gli fornirà la scusa per tornare in paese e frequentare il Caffè della Marina dove la ragazza è stata assunta come cameriera. Chatelard crede di avere in pugno il proprio destino e quello della Marie, ma in realtà è quest’ultima a tessere con abilità consumata e ironica determinazione una sottile trama di eventi nella quale l’uomo si lascerà avvolgere.

A very satisfying read. I loved how the story unfolded. It kept me guessing without being too confusing. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.

Good, but not quite perfect. Interesting premise and executed fairly well. Just a few slow chapters here and there. A solid 4 stars from me.
