Not illustrated. Excerpt: ... moved in before the entryman moved off. I do not remember discussing this land or any applications for same with anyone in Mayberry's store. Anderson T. Wright. Subscribed and sworn to before me this 8th day of March, 1910. D. D. Bronson, A General Inspector of Forest Semiee, U. S. Department of Agriculture. Almo, Ark., December 24, 1908. 1, Albert Cleveland Jones, being duly sworn depose and say: That on the 8th day of March, 1907, 1 made homestead application for N. J, NE. NE. NW. sec. 24, and SE. SE. sec. 13, T. 3 S., R. 25 W., and in about one month after that 1 got word from Camden, Ark., that SE. SE. sec. 13, and N. DEGREES NE. sec. 24 were covered by former entries made by R. E. Roling and F. W. Scott. I then contested their claims and their entries were canceled according to letter received about May 1, stating that 1 had right to enter the land. As I went then to Clerk C. H. Speer, Mount Ida, Ark., to place my entry he informed me that the SE. SE. sec. 13 was in the Arkansas National Forest (proposed withdrawal). I then entered the 3 forties in 24, and hoped that my right to enter the SE. SE. sec. 13 would be extended to me on account of my cancellation of former claims, which cost me some $18. In July, 1907, I received duplicate receipt for the N. J NE. NE. NW. sec. 24, T. 3, R. 25, and November 6,1907,1 got letter from the Forest Service that SE. SE. sec. 13, T. 3 S., R. 25 W. was subject to my preferred right, and I went to Mount Ida with same letter November 7, 1907, and entered the same before D. H. Speer, paying him $7.50 and $1 additional for notice of cancellation, but I never received any duplicate for the same nor the return of my money nor any notice that it was withheld until some time near the last of 1907 or first of 1908, when I receiv..

Finished it in a couple of days. I loved how the story unfolded. It kept me guessing without being too confusing. Would probably read it again at some point.

I have mixed feelings about this one. The writing was fine, but I didn't feel very connected to the characters. They felt a bit flat. Might work better for someone else, just wasn't completely for me.
