Traer hasta nuestros días el sentir de aquellos que vivieron la guerra civil y con poderosa voz nos hablan de luz y esperanza común.Fernando Macarro Castillo -Marcos Ana- nace en Ventosa del Río Almar, aldea campesina de la provincia de Salamanca en 1921. En 1929 sus padres ?Marcos y Ana- se trasladan a Alcalá de Henares como hortelanos. Marcos tiene ocho años. En 1936 estalla la guerra civil, con quince años se presenta voluntario. A los 17 años se incorpora al ejército en la Octava División.El fin de la guerra, marzo de 1939, cae en el puerto de Alicante y es conducido al campo de concentración de Albaterra, hasta su evasión. Marcha a Madrid donde es detenido y devuelto a prisión; es abril de 1939, tiene 18 años y pasarán 23 años hasta ser puesto en libertad en 1961, con 41 años de edad. Serán largos años de tortura, privación y encierro. Allí nace su obra poética, vital y lúcida, una ventana donde contemplar la ciudadanía en cadenas; nacida desde el dolor sí, pero que festeja la vida, la inteligencia y la dignidad del hombre.En Noviembre de 1961 en libertad marcha a Francia donde inicia una vigorosa actividad cultural y política para restaurar la democracia en España. Sus viajes le llevarán por todo el mundo, apoyando la causa democrática y cosechando el reconocimiento internacional a su obra nacida entre muros, pero libre.El libro recupera una persona clave en la posguerra española.
