Overview: Un air espiègle, un costume de groom... Vous le reconnaissez ? Oui, il s'agit bien de Spirou... mais du petit Spirou. Car le fameux personnage de BD immortalisé par le génial Franquin n'a pas toujours été un héros sans peur et sans reproche. Avant d'être un grand de la bande dessinée, Spirou a été petit... Et c'est la longue liste de ses blagues en tout genre que nous narrent les auteurs, le scénariste Tome et son compère dessinateur Janry. Lesquels avaient d'abord, au début des années quatre-vingt, repris le flambeau des aventures de Spirou (le grand, cette fois). Et se sont ensuite dit, un jour de 1987, qu'il serait sûrement amusant d'inventer une jeunesse à ce pilier de la BD franco-belge... Une jeunesse tumultueuse, forcément. Le petit Spirou de Tome et Janry est plutôt du genre à lorgner sous les jupes des filles, à faire enrager ses professeurs et à s'interroger sur la vie des adultes. Cette fois, il se demande par exemple ce que cache le mystère des toilettes séparées... Il faut dire qu'avec son entourage, il a de quoi se poser des questions. Surtout quand l'on regarde son grand-père, Grand-papy Spirou, qui n'est jamais le dernier à rendre hommage aux charmes de la gent féminine... Ici, le petit-fils goûte aux cours d'éducation sexuelle, emmène ses copines au cinoche et refile des dragées contre la digestion paresseuse aux grands de l'école qui tentent de le racketter... Bref, on est assez loin du modèle de vertu incarné par le grand Spirou. Et l'enfance décrite par Tome et Janry ne ressemble pas vraiment à celle que vivaient ses lecteurs des années cinquante et soixante... Moralité : y'a plus de jeunesse ! --Philippe Actère

Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. A solid 5/5 for me.
