Overview: "L'antologia Il mondo dei posteri ― Utopia e distopia nella Russia del primo Novecento propone al lettore italiano un viaggio mai prima intrapreso nella fantascienza russa e sovietica degli albori, i cui testi restano ancora in larga parte inediti. Essa, affiancandosi agli esempi ben più popolari di Jules Verne, Camille Flammarion, ed Herbert George Wells, sviluppa un tipo di narrazione che pone al centro le conseguenze del progresso illimitato della scienza (quella che poi verrà definita futurologia), e apre le porte a tutta una tradizione successiva, come quella dei fratelli Boris e Arkadij Strugackij o Stanislaw Lem, che sarà destinata a un riconoscimento internazionale. Presentiamo qui quattro testi: Atavismo (1899) e Una sera... del 2217 (1906) di Nikolaj Fèdorov; La repubblica della croce del sud (1907) di Valerij Brjusov; e un capitolo dal romanzo Il mondo dei posteri (1923) di Jakov Okunev, intitolato Il risveglio. Valerij Brjusov (1873-1924) fu tra i massimi poeti tra il xix e il xx secolo in Russia, caposcuola della scuola simbolista e famoso in vita anche all'estero. Ja-kov Okunev (1882-1932) è invece sostanzialmente ignoto al lettore non russofono, fu scrittore e giornalista, autore di varie opere a tema utopistico e distopico. L'autore dei primi due testi infine, Nikolaj Fédorov, è dato come ignoto, ma in base alle nostre ricerche potrebbe trattarsi di uno pseudonimo dell'autore polacco Ferdynand Antoni Ossendowski (1878 ― 1945)."

I was pleasantly surprised. I got really invested in the main character's journey. Everything just clicked for me. Would probably read it again at some point.

Not bad, but not my favorite. The pacing was a bit slow and I found myself skimming a few pages. It wasn't terrible, just okay. Might work better for someone else, just wasn't completely for me.
