Overview: Die »öffentlichen Gedichte« der Nachkriegszeit auf ihren Wirklichkeitsbezug durchsichtig zu machen, ist das Ziel dieser Anthologie. Unter der Mitwirkung der Autoren wurde versucht, die Anlässe des politischen und gesellschaftlichen Lebens herauszufinden, die die hier abgedruckten Gedichte ausgelöst haben, und sie gemäß der Chronologie ihrer Entstehung zu ordnen. Auf diese Weise werden die Texte so nahe an die Wirklichkeit herangerückt, daß sich aus der Gedichtabfolge die Kurve des geistigen und politischen Klimas der letzten fünfzig Jahr ablesen läßt. Sind die Lyriker der Realität gerecht geworden, haben sie den Erwartungen, den Forderungen, den Enttäuschungen dieses Vierteljahrhunderts eine Stimme gegeben, die über die Zeitungsnotiz hinaus die Erfahrungen des Augenblicks akut und dringlich macht, so daß die res publica, die »öffentliche Sache«, zur Sache jedes einzelnen wird? Good, but not quite perfect. I liked the main character, though some of the side plots were just okay. A solid 4 stars from me.

Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. It has a good balance of dialogue and description. Everything felt like it moved at the right speed. A solid 5/5 for me.

Such a great read. I got really invested in the main character's journey. Everything just clicked for me. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.

Finished it in a couple of days. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Would probably read it again at some point.
