Overview: Perang Jawa adalah salah satu pertempuran terbesar yang pernah dialami oleh Belanda selama masa pendudukannya di Nusantara. Pada masa itu, pasukan Belanda di bawah pimpinan Jenderal Hendrik Merkus De Kock berusaha membungkam perlawanan pendudukJawa di bawah pimpinan Pangeran Diponegoro. Akibat perang ini, penduduk Jawa yang tewas mencapai 200.000 jiwa, sementara korban tewas di pihak Belanda berjumlah 8.000 tentara Belanda dan 7000 serdadu pribumi.Awal konflik penyebab Perang Jawa terjadi pada masa pemerintahan Hamengku Buwono ke-IV. Pada saat itu, masyarakat Yogyakarta dan Jawa secara umum, sedang mengalami sebuah dekadensi moral, budaya, dan agama, terutama di kalangan bangsawan istana. Para elite keraton cenderung merapat dan bersekutu dengan pemerintah kolonial untuk mendapatkan kenyamanan mereka sendiri. Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. Glad I picked this up.

Good, but not quite perfect. Interesting premise and executed fairly well. Just a few slow chapters here and there. A solid 4 stars from me.

I was pleasantly surprised. It has a good balance of dialogue and description. Everything felt like it moved at the right speed. Glad I picked this up.

Such a great read. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Would probably read it again at some point.

It was just alright. The pacing was a bit slow and I found myself skimming a few pages. It wasn't terrible, just okay. A generous 3 stars.

Finished it in a couple of days. I loved how the story unfolded. It kept me guessing without being too confusing. Will be looking for more from this author.
