Overview: Un jove pastor d'un poble serrà de la província d'Almeria fuig després d'apunyalar a l'alcalde del seu poble, un milicià a qui va sorprendre violant a la seva neboda, i es va refugiar a Andorra, on es va unir als pastors que feien de guies d'espanyols que creuaven a França, fugint de la guerra civil, i després als jueus que procedents de França escapaven a la persecució nazi. Es van fer molt rics a força d'abandonar a alguns adinerats a la neu, lligats amb filferros i descalços, quedant-se amb els béns que portaven. Antonio Lao, amb els anys, es va convertir en l'empresari més important d'Andorra, propietari de les principals concessions de vehicles alemanys, propietari d'hotels, centres comercials, mentre altres pastors van passar de prestadors a banquers. El 1984 el nebot d'un joier jueu va seguir la pista que un diari d'Almeria va publicar fins a esbrinar què va ser dels seus avantpassats, als quals creia morts en un camp de concentració nazi. Com tota novel·la, és ficció que parteix d'alguns fets reals, com que les principals famílies andorranes tenen un passat tacat de sang i que en la dècada del vuitanta es va trobar el cadàver d'un dels empresaris més rics del principat, nascut a la província Almeria, amb les nines lligades amb filferros en una muntanya del Pirineu.

I was pleasantly surprised. I got really invested in the main character's journey. Everything just clicked for me. Will be looking for more from this author.

Really enjoyed this one. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.
