Selçuklu devletini yıkan Moğol egemenliğinin sönmesiyle birlikte yerel halk arasına yerleşmiş göçebe Oğuz boyları Karakoyunlu ve Akkoyunlu adıyla Türkmen ittifakları oluşturdular. Bayındır boyunun yönettiği Akkoyunlu oymağı Doğu ve Güneydoğu Anadolu'yu egemenliği altına alırken, daha batı kesimlerde Kayı boyundan gelen Osmanlı devleti yükseliyordu.Dede Korkut Hikâyeleri yüzyıllar boyunca sözlü gelenekte varlığını koruyup biçimlendikten sonra Oğuzların dilinde yazıya geçirildi. Hikâyelerin oluştuğu dönem de, yazıya aktarıldığı tarih de tam olarak bilinememektedir. Yazık ki bu hikâyelerden günümüze yalnızca Dresden ve Vatikan'da bulunan iki yazma ulaşabilmiştir. Hikâyelerin çok daha eski bir Oğuz destanının on iki bölümünden ibaret olduğu düşünülse de, kim tarafından yazıya aktarıldığı belirsizdir.Dede Korkut ya da Korkut Ata'nın kim olduğuna dair elimizde neredeyse hiç bilgi yoktur. Hikâyelerin girişindeki bilgiye göre Oğuzların Bayat boyundan bilge bir kişi olup Hz. Muhammed döneminde yaşamıştır. Başka kaynaklarda Osmanoğulları devletini kuran Kayı boyundan olduğu söylenir. Bir başka yerde de İç Oğuz ve Dış Oğuz beylerinin şeyhi olarak geçer. Finished it in a couple of days. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. Worth the time and money.
