Le programme A380, d'un cout total de developpement de 12 milliards d'euros, a ete lance au milieu des annees 1990 sous le nom d'Airbus A3XX. Le premier vol a eu lieu le 27 avril 2005 a l'aeroport de Toulouse et le premier service commercial s'est deroule le 25 octobre 2007 par Singapore Airlines entre Singapour et Sydney. L'A380 est, en 2009, le plus gros avion civil de transport de passagers en service et le troisieme plus gros avion de l'histoire de l'aeronautique, apres le Hughes H-4 Hercules et l'Antonov An-225. Le pont superieur de l'A380 s'etend sur toute la longueur du fuselage, ce qui donne a la cabine 50 % de surface de plus que celle de son concurrent direct, le Boeing 747-400. Initialement, l'A380 etait propose en deux versions. L'A380-800, la version passager, peut transporter de a suivant la configuration (trois classes standards ou classe economique unique). La version A380-800F cargo, peut emporter jusqu'a de fret. En raison des problemes d'industrialisation de l'A380-800 et des desistements des principaux clients, Airbus s'est resolu a suspendre le developpement de la version cargo jusqu'en 2015, tout en continuant la prospection commerciale. Il existe aussi une version Prestige surnommee Flying Palace et destinee au marche des jets d'affaire. L'A380-800 a un rayon d'action de, ce qui lui permet de voler de New York jusqu'a Hong Kong sans escale, a la vitesse de (Mach 0,85). L'Airbus A380 A la fin des annees 1980...

I liked it for the most part. I liked the main character, though some of the side plots were just okay. Still a good book.
