Overview: J’arrivais au lieu de rendez-vous, la chambre 1622 du Four Seasons Hotel de Chicago. Comme Cecilia me l’avait indiquée, j’étais venue habiller en infirmière. La jupe était trop courte et le décolleté trop long pour être celui d’une vraie infirmière, mais j’imagine que le couturier avait fait exprès. Le Four Seasons est un cinq étoiles, parmi les meilleurs que l’on puisse se payer. Mais, je ne me sentais pas à ma place dans ce genre d’hôtels. Tout était too much. Le portier, la réception immense, les employés en costume cravate ou tailleurs serrés prêt à attraper un chewing-gum en plein vol si je descendis de le cracher par terre. Enfin, je trouvais ça mieux d’avoir rendez-vous dans des endroits comme ça plutôt que dans le genre de motel sordide - le repère des dealers de drogue. Là, j’avais aussi affaire à des dealeurs, mais d’une autre classe. D’un autre standing. Des dealeurs d’argent, banquiers, traders et autres. Bon, je m’étais promis de ne pas rentrer dans des monologues politiques. C’est mon journal, j’y parlerais de ma vie. Sinon, je ferais mieux d’écrire un article pour le Wall Street Journal. Entonnement, la porte était entrouverte. Je toquais prudemment. J’avais vu assez de séries policières pour s’avoir qu’une porte entrouverte était mauvaise signent. - Entrez, dis une voix masculine, mais fluette. Comme un petit garçon. Je pénétrais dans la chambre, mes talons hauts résonnaient à chaque pas. Je pris soin de bien fermer la porte et tombais sur un spectacle étonnant. Devant moi était allongé un homme d’une soixantaine d’années, la couverture relevée jusqu’au cou et un thermomètre dans la bouche. - Je suis Cristina. Mais je peux repasser, si vous ne vous sentez pas bien. Je m’attendais pas à ce genre d’accueil. Et je ne pensais pas que ça faisait partie du jeu. Pourtant… - Vous êtes l’infirmière ? Finished it in a couple of days. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Worth the time and money.
