Overview: Dai primi giorni di dicembre 2013, Eraldo Baldini ha cominciato a collaborare con un proprio spazio, Corner, alla community letteraria LOPcom, vetrina e arena per chiunque voglia proporre qualcosa (racconti, poesie, rubriche, recensioni, fotografie, ecc.) ai numerosi lettori di questo sito in costante crescita. L’ha fatto pubblicando brani più o meno a giorni alterni, tanto che questi, alla fine di maggio 2014, quindi dopo sei mesi, erano circa un’ottantina, da cui abbiamo selezionato i 66 che qui raccogliamo. Perché 66? Forse perché è un numero “bello da vedere”, con la sua grafica aggraziata e simmetrica, o forse perché, almeno a livello subliminale, richiama a un percorso lungo, denso ed evocativo, quello di una delle più famose strade interstatali del pianeta, la statunitense Route 66. O solo perché, tolti i racconti che ritenevamo meno godibili (in realtà lo erano tutti, ma volete negarci il gusto di giudicare e selezionare?) è quello il numero che ne è venuto fuori. Si tratta di brani, come accenna l’autore nella postfazione, nati volta per volta come commento a eventi di cronaca o al calendario delle ricorrenze che scandiscono il ritmo del nostro tempo personale e collettivo, a trasmissioni televisive, a vicende vere o fantasiose; oppure come rivisitazioni “sui generis” della storia, della scienza e della medicina; brani quasi sempre conditi di ironia, di un umorismo intelligente e surreale, di un pizzico di cinismo, di uno sguardo scanzonato ma attento sulla realtà, quotidiana o eccezionale che sia. Un divertissement a volte leggero e addirittura raffinato, altre volte pirotecnico e “popolare”, così com’è o dovrebbe essere lo sguardo sul mondo. Eraldo Baldini writes contemporary fiction and has always been fascinated by character-driven stories. They hold a degree in English Literature and previously worked as an editor before transitioning to writing their own books. Eraldo Baldini lives with their spouse and a very vocal rescue cat.
Took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was worth it. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. A solid 4 stars from me.

Finished it in a couple of days. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.
