Overview: La notion de l'autorité a été écrit en 1942, peu avant l'Esquisse d'une phénoménologie du droit, avec lequel il entretient d'étroits rapports.«Chose curieuse, le problème et la notion de l'autorité ont été très peu étudiés», note Kojève en ouverture de ce qu'il appelle lui-même un «exposé sommaire». «L'essence même de ce phénomène a rarement attiré l'attention.» Soixante ans après le constat garde sa validité, en dépit de quelques contributions notables. C'est ce qui fait le prix de cet essai d'élucidation philosophique. Kojève procède à la décomposition du phénomène, en dégageant quatre types purs d'autorité humaine qu'il met chacun en correspondance avec une théorie : le Père (la scolastique), le Maître (Hegel), le Chef (Aristote), le Juge (Platon). A solid read. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. Not bad at all.
