Overview: Po románových thrilleroch Padreho klan a Padreho klan 2 sa investigatívny novinár Marek Vagovič vracia k literatúre faktu. Na takmer 330 stranách opisuje strhujúce príbehy policajtov okolo Jána Čurillu, ktorí sa tvrdou prácou vypracovali na elitu vo svojom odbore. Najskôr postavili pred súd najobávanejšie zločinecké skupiny v krajine – piťovcov, sýkorovcov, sátorovcov, takáčovcov. Viacerých chcela mafia zabiť, takže chodili ozbrojení alebo s ochrankou.Postupne sa prepracovali až k najvyšším predstaviteľom štátu, vrátane súčasného premiéra Roberta Fica. Pritiahli aj pozornosť tajnej služby, keďže jej vtedajšieho šéfa Vladimíra Pčolinského obvinili z korupcie.SIS ich sledovala, s cieľom získať na nich kompromateriály. Vyfabrikovala aj účelovú správu, že manipulujú s výpoveďami tzv. kajúcnikov. Následne boli na tlačových besedách Smeru spolu s rodinami očierňovaní, zastrašovaní a dehumanizovaní. Ich kancelárie odpočúvali, policajná inšpekcia a generálna prokuratúra rozbehli trestné stíhanie. Na niekoľko týždňov sa dokonca ocitli vo väzbe – spolu so skutočnými zločincami, ktorých dostali za mreže.V knihe detailne opisujú, ako prebiehalo ich zadržanie, správanie bacharov, aj život za chladnými múrmi slovenských väzníc. Ani jedného to však nezlomilo, naopak. Dnes sú ešte viac ako kedykoľvek predtým odhodlaní bojovať za pravdu, spravodlivosť, česť a morálku. Aj preto sa rozhodli prelomiť mlčanie – prvý a možno aj poslednýkrát. Nie sú to však len osobné príbehy výnimočnej partie policajtov, ale aj exkluzívny pohľad do zákulisia vyšetrovania najväčších korupčno-mafiánskych káuz s politickým pozadím v ére samostatnosti.S desiatkami nových, doteraz nepublikovaných informácií. V rozhovoroch s autorom knihy, ktorý s nimi strávil desiatky hodín, odkrývajú pozadie najbrutálnejších gangsterských zločinov, ale aj sofistikovaných kšeftov bielych golierov v réžii Norberta Bödöra. Mimoriadne otvorene približujú jednak výsluchy hrubokrkých sadistov, ktorí porcovali a mleli svoje obete ako na zabíjačke. Vyšetrovatelia okolo Jána Čurillu sa vracajú aj k udalostiam po voľbách 2023, kedy ich minister vnútra Matúš Šutaj Eštok (Hlas) postavil mimo služby. Odvtedy sú de facto v domácom väzení a čakajú na súdny proces, pričom je im výrazne krátená mzda. Bez servítky tiež hovoria o atmosfére v polícii po rozprášení NAKA, ale aj o nadpráci prokuratúry pod vedením Maroša Žilinku.Táto kniha je súčasne mementom, ako to môže dopadnúť, keď ovládnu štát politici, ktorí nemajú žiadne zábrany. Ukradli milióny zo spoločnej kasy, ukradli spravodlivosť a teraz nám chcú ukradnúť aj slobodu a dôstojnosť. Valcujú demokraciu a právny štát spôsobom, aký si nedovolil ani Mečiar. Not bad, but not my favorite. It had some good moments, but the overall plot felt a bit disjointed in the second half. A generous 3 stars.
