Overview: Jeseni leta 1994 je slovenski par s triletno hčerko obiskal prijatelje na Švedskem. Mož in žena sta izkoristila priložnost, hčer sta pustila v skrbnem varstvu družine v Stockholmu in skočila na vikend izlet v Talin. V Stockholm sta se vračala s trajektom Estonia. A zgodil se je brodolom in oba sta za zmeraj izginila v mrzlem Baltskem morju. Malo Ivo je posvojila švedska družina.Trideset let kasneje Iva še vedno čuti povezanost s Slovenijo, zato se skupaj z možem odločita za obnovo hiše staršev v Vodnjakih. Ob obnovi pri popravilu vodovoda na dvorišču naletijo na truplo. Staro je vsaj trideset let, zato kriminalisti ne gojijo dosti upanja, da bi ugotovili, kaj se je zgodilo. Zato pa najdba pritegne upokojenega kriminalista Martina Vrenka. Vrenko kmalu ugotovi, da je bilo truplo zakopano v dneh slovenske osamosvojitvene vojne in da gre za podoficirja takratne jugoslovanske vojske, žal pa tudi to, da ga DNK povezuje z Ivo. V Vodnjake pride brat umrlega, profesor iz Črne gore, ki pride po posmrtne ostanke in hoče videti, kje je umrl. Nato pretekli dogodki dohitijo sedanjost, v vasi se zgodi umor. Sproži se uradna preiskava, Martin Vrenko pa tudi ni daleč stran. Odkritja so vedno bolj nenavadna. Ali je mogoče, da so na umor vplivali dogodki izpred tridesetih let? Je umor povezan z osamosvojitveno vojno ali celo z brodolomom Estonie? Ali pa prihaja zlo od kod drugod? Ko potem izgine eden od osumljenih, Ivin zakon pa je na vedno večji preizkušnji, je čas, da Martin Vrenko skuša stvari postaviti na svoje mesto.

Took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was worth it. Interesting premise and executed fairly well. Just a few slow chapters here and there. A solid 4 stars from me.

Finished it in a couple of days. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Glad I picked this up.
