Overview: Little research interest has been directed so far toward the way in which interviews represent a specific form of documentary literature. The study looks at a large, but entirely assimilable collection of texts qualifying as interview literature, stemming from autobiographical accounts by 'ordinary' East German citizens and reflecting life in the GDR and in post-GDR East Germany up to 1995. Its purpose is to demonstrate that the interview genre is a source of personal testimony which, like diaries or letters, can be of major and immediate value for many branches of scholarship.

Good, but not quite perfect. The middle dragged a tiny bit, but the ending totally made up for it. A solid 4 stars from me.

Not bad, but not my favorite. Some parts were interesting, while others were a bit of a slog to get through. Probably won't read it again, but it was an okay way to pass the time.

It was just alright. The pacing was a bit slow and I found myself skimming a few pages. It wasn't terrible, just okay. It's fine if you have nothing else to read.

Glad someone recommended this to me. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.
