Hamilton "never asked anyone to do anything he wasn't prepared to do himself . . . and do better." Indeed, the author of A History of the United States Marine Corps once called Hamilton "the most outstanding Marine Corps hero in World War I." A leader of the first major American assault on June 6, 1918, and the last ranking officer in the American Expeditionary Forces to learn that the war was over, Hamilton remained in the thick of the fighting from start to finish. Although he earned the Distinguished Service Cross, the Croix de Guerre, and two Medal of Honor recommendations for his service, Hamilton's fame stalled when he died prematurely in 1922. Good, but not quite perfect. Interesting premise and executed fairly well. Just a few slow chapters here and there. Enjoyable weekend read.

Such a great read. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. A solid 5/5 for me.

I have mixed feelings about this one. The writing was fine, but I didn't feel very connected to the characters. They felt a bit flat. Just right down the middle.

I liked it for the most part. The middle dragged a tiny bit, but the ending totally made up for it. Still a good book.

Such a great read. I loved how the story unfolded. It kept me guessing without being too confusing. Would probably read it again at some point.
